A small mountain village of 250 inhabitants. This is a hamlet on a hill above Tirano… way above… way way above… I know because some how I always pick the side of the bus that looks like there is nothing below to stop me from rolling off the side of the road to the town below. SO, if this looks like we are up in the sky, WE ARE! I’m probably in a cloud and just don’t know it. We are “on the sunny side” as they say… the side of the mountain that gets the light all day and I can tell by the way everything grows.. like it is in miracle grow dirt.

The happiest people in the world live here, could be the homemade wine, i don’t know. They love company and I loved them! They were known for smuggling. Yes, smuggling… chocolate and coffee to Switzerland across this mountain that just keeps going up (we are only halfway up) to come down on the other side into Switzerland. Wild.. I know but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do when there was a war.

I learned I’m not big on buck wheat and roasted chestnuts but, It’s new to me, I could get used to it if needed, I guess.

We had lunch and sang. As we were singing “Imagine” I thought Lennon had it right, these wonderful people have it right… what’s wrong with the rest of the world?
